Those who know me, know that I love to read. My 4th grade daughter was assigned a Newbery Medal winner for her upcoming book report. While she was exploring her options I realized that I had read only one Newbery Medal winner books! How could this be? It was nearing the end of December, so right then and there, I decided to challenge myself to read ALL of the Newbery Medal winning books by year end. What I didn’t realize was… the first Newbery Medal was awarded in 1922. Do the math… 92 books in 365 days! Okay, so an average of 8 books a month… I can do that. gulp…
Well if you are keeping track I had actually read 1, The Giver by Lois Lowry. So 91 books. But sometime in January of 2014 they will announce the 2013 winner. I’m back at 92. Here goes. Wish me luck!
